Location:

Colin is very passionate, highly educated and well networked in the Water supply, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) sector. Since 1991, Colin served with faith-based organizations across 30 countries in both humanitarian response and sustainable development specialist roles: most recently serving 11+ years as Senior WASH Advisor for the Swiss-based INGO Medair.

Colin was also Tutor & Examiner for the University of London post-graduate Water and Sanitation study unit, led by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Earlier in his career Colin helped to initiate a programme for young engineers to gain experience in public health engineering in developing nations. Now known as Engineers for Overseas Development http://www.efod.org.uk/, EoD adopted a broader civil engineering focus with six UK regional bases of operation.

Married to Isobel, their home is in Scotland – where they are “empty-nesters” having two daughters and a son who are all married and living with their respective families in Wales, England, and the USA. Colin and Isobel have 3 wonderful grandchildren (so far!) whom they really enjoy spending time with whenever they can get together. Colin will continue to be based in Scotland.

Colin holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Paisley College of Technology (now University of the West of Scotland); a master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering from The City University, London; and a doctorate in Environmental Health (rural sanitation) from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, University of London. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health in 2008.
